An image of a battalion soldiers uniform when the regiment arrived from Ireland in 1776. Below is the recreated uniform of a battalion soldier on campaign during 1777. Earlier that year the regiments in Canada were ordered to cut their coats to jackets and their hats to caps for the upcoming summer season. This was to repair their present clothing and to help them march and battle in the wilderness. The result was they looked like light infantry. New 9th Regiment enlistedmans uniform for 1777.
